How to Set Priorities in Your Life?

To start, you need to ask yourself what is your ultimate guide in your life. Meaning, what is your reference point you will refer to before you do anything? Before any action, you have to go through some form of filtering system inside your head.
That filtering system is your ultimate guide for life, and you have to first identify what that is (if you haven’t done so already).
Is it religion? Is it your parents? Is it culture? Is it the law of the land? Is it friends? Is it your base desires?
Your ultimate guide will be your core, and anything you do in life will reflect that core. That core is crucial in life because in an uncertain and chaotic world, you need a center that is fixed and reliable.
Your core is your set of principles in life. The principles will determine what you believe to be true or false, what you see as reality or fantasy, and what you understand to be important or trivial.
From there, you can start list down things you want to do in a day, in a week, in a month, in a year, or in your life. Your principles will determine what you will write down. There is an infinite number of things you can do, but there is only 24 hours in a day. Plus, you can’t live long enough to do everything there is to do in life. So, you have choose some out of infinite options.
You will choose based on your principles.
Now you have a list of some things to do with your life. From there, you can rank order them according to what you understand to be important or trivial. The important ones will be at the top and the trivial ones will be at the bottom.
You will rank order them based on your principles.
Now, you have a list of things to do that are ranked by importance. That will be your life’s priority list.
But in order to get to that point, we have to begin with our initial point: What is the reference point you use to decide whether or not to do something? What is your ultimate guide? If you don’t have one, then you can’t set a proper priority list about your life.
Priorities aren’t the same for everyone, because not everyone will have the same ultimate guide. So you can’t look left or right to know what your priorities are. You should decide for yourself.
Take ownership of your life, and decide.
